"Our birding experience near Cali was one of the highlights of our trip to Colombia. Our guide, Julio, was very knowledgeable and friendly, and made our birding a extremely pleasant one. He drove us around on a clean car and offered constant advice and tips as to where to find the birds. We were able to see quetzal, trogon, momot, aracarí and many other choice species within reasonable distance from a convenient path. Both on fruiting trees as well as on a café, while enjoying breakfast, we saw our fair share of tanager species, including the endemic multicolored tanager, as well as several hummingbird species. Yet the most memorable time came in the afternoon, where we sat on a forest and witnessed a number of Peruvian cock-of-the-rock males displaying on a lek, and unmolested by our presence. Coffee, breakfast and lunch were done on a nice restaurants that attract birds with fruit and nectar feeders. A very bird-friendly way of fully enjoying a birding day trip."
